Wave Riders

we are the wave riders

when chaos crashes down

we laugh 

and look at one another 

because we have been in this place 

before

having just one friend

who knows your heart 

is enough 

and I know that you 

will not flinch

when you drive over the boards

that cover the chasm 

because we know 

that it isn’t courage 

that spurs us on 

out of the darkness

out of the tunnel’s mouth
