Fire

you have set me on fire

and I have been burning

these last ten days or so 

watch the light in my eyes

kindle, watch the light

crackling under my skin

I can see you thinking that 

it is just the heat of August

causing fire weather

it was nothing you did,

sometimes the lightning

just strikes like that

to be safe we should 

turn off all the lights

flip off the breakers

before I burn down the city
