If you are a woman 

society cuts you

from both sides

you should starve more

and shave more 

and try harder 

to be delectable 

because we can see

that you are failing again

at being beautiful 

or even pretty

but watch out

because one day

there might be a man

who falls victim to your 

not pretty face

to the fires of your intellect 

(which have been over-stoked)

to the accident of your gender 

and so we must keep them

safe from you

and keeping you 

in a walled garden 

in a compound of misery

seems like the easiest way

for us to prevent accidents

like equality 

or friendship 

from ever occurring.
