Do not 

diminish me 

how can there be 

friendship between us 

if I am less than you 

warriors learn 

to make openings

that agility or timing

may overmatch strength

if your opposite believes

that you are in their reach

learn to sink back or slide in 

learn to fill

the impossible places 

and confound 

their understanding 

what I am trying to say

is that I have my own wisdom

and I listen 

to the heartbeat of it 

when it speaks to me

that I may move to the place 

where I’m as powerful

as anyone.
