All you 

beautiful planets

wheeling about me

the incandescent sun

I feel you tugging

with your strings of attachment

and your elliptical orbits

against my 

purposeful rotation.

I will keep turning

and burning

at the still center

and hope that you learn

to trust in the light of me

that it will not go out 

even to the ends 

of our journey

together.

I have always been here 

illuminating 

before you spun 

in your current path 

since we came into being

siblings and kin

made of starfire 

and burning matter 

and you departed 

from the protoplanetary disc 

to track your own pathway

where our fingertips 

can just touch 

through the immense 

distance. 

But the heart

of my friendship 

goes with each of you

broken into many pieces

like tiny jewels

shining

in our infinite web.
