Dream Gate

Meet me again

at the moondial

the dream gate

that we may be swept away

into the heart of sleep

and I will

teach your lips to taste

honey

until the stars burn up

above us

and are consumed.

I have been pouring out

wisdom from a dark glass

and it is nearly gone

only the residue is left

and that is not enough

to make us forget

that we are mortal.

Won’t you lean in

just once

and be lost,

won’t you lick one drop

from the lip of the cup?

I have been chalking

spells

all over the parking lot

for protection

for redemption

that we may remember

who we can become

before our dream is over

and our sleep is done.
