A Thousand Threads
not
for the world
would I ask of you
anything
that would cause
your heart
to revolt
each of us
comes to the table
with a thousand threads
of obligation
already attached
the weight of which
can pull us
down
when we come
together
I wish to be light
like gossamer
and as easily
broken
if you need
to be
solitary
just pull the curtain
through the dust
of the window’s sill
to cut off
the thread
