World Building
There is a deal of solace
in imagining the world
that you want
I know it isn’t the ash-filled
refuse barrel of a world
that we see burning
in the corner
I have done a little
digital editing to it
within the dreamscapes
that I keep stacked
inside the closet of my imagination
like so many soap bubbles
I need there to be
friends who are
quick with kindness
some with hearts
spilling with light
like a door to a warm house
opening in a winter’s evening
if I cannot find the door
I am drawing it with words
until I can remember it
as real as the outline
of your face.
There is a deal of solace
in imagining the world
that you want
I build mine into
the shape of a key
to unlock the future.
