To The Daylight

do you not know

that where you are tearing

beneath the surface

I can feel you trembling

our emotions

are tangled root systems

connected where the earth

obscures our vision

under the rocks / the sea bed

the foundations

of the houses

when you draw the blankets up

to cover yourself in sleep

you slide into the city of dreams

and your body waits like a drifting leaf

like a shell of the self

that you bring

to the daylight

the kernel of your spirit

ever burning / ever ready to bear fruit

is walking in the fields of starlight

lifts on the storm winds

where the waves batter the walls of ice

makes jubilant fireworks

where we touch against each other
