Under my feet

the metal mesh

is pierced with light

I wish 

you were here

with me

to cross the span

to lead me 

over the river

for some

unknowable reason

you carry 

my courage 

you set fire

to my belief

in myself 

you take 

the gods’ blessing 

and place it

into my hands.
