Stay Wild
Stay wild
do not let the hounds
run you to the earth
do not let the shouts
of the privileged men
with their red faces
and thick bodies
call you from your course
like the hare
remember to leap
like the fox
lean into your stratagems
into the maze
of your game-playing
and remain untamed
it is the forest in you
the uncultivated fields
the steep banks
that I desire to know better
let me find the places
where I may be lost
where few humans
have set foot
to set up the tent
of my devotion
I want to watch
the horizon
until the sun sinks
and the stars start up
like a host of candles
ready to rage across
the battlefields of the sky
I want to plunge
into the river of you
where there is no one to see
my abandon
or to tell me to be careful
I want you to
stay wild.
