Snatch

I am fashioned simply

with ordinary limbs

that twist and bend

in the fashion

you have come

to expect

because

the gods baked me

with wheat and honey

to be a simple

everyday kind of bread

other people

are beautiful confections

designed for feasting

and studded with apricots

or sweet almond flour

they seem

too good to be true

that is why

on the coffee table of mortals

I don’t know why

you would snatch at me

when all the other choices

are twice as delicious.
