Silence The False Songs

if they

misjudge our steel

if they

think we are weak

if they think

setting us down in the crucible

again

will cause our imperfections

to crumble into nothing

if they think

we will fold

like the plastic lid

of the cup

under your hand

then they must

think again

out from the dark sea

we will crawl

dragging our nets

gnashing our

needle fine teeth

ready to pay

any price

for human legs

that we may

carry our weapons

over the shore

to break their banners

and cast down their

citadels

from the cliff edge

and silence

their false songs

that they’ve caused

to be taught

for too many centuries
