Regret Nothing

Just let

them burn out

your eyes

with their sweet

light

what harm does

that do

in the end

better to stare

at the stars

and let every leaf

fall over you

like a miracle

better to plunge

into the current

of the water

better to look back

and to say

every sunrise

every moonrise

I was looking around

and laughing

with an impossible joy

thanking the

gods of night

for every nerve ending

for every whisper

of touch

for every vision

of loveliness

that we will carry

with us

into the darkness

where we regret

nothing.
