You bear witness 

so that I feel

I am not forgotten 

it means 

everything

to believe 

that you have set 

a candle burning 

inside of you 

so that I can make 

my way through the dark

without foundering

in return

I will raise my pale lantern 

and bed of stars

higher in the sky

for you also to navigate

when it is lightless 

out on the ocean

there are no charts 

where we are going 

into the future 

we are running blind

we are making our way

by touch

into the unknown 

can we trust our passage 

where the night heaves

about us

we must surrender to it

I have

cast myself adrift

into the mirrored pool

to drink from the well
