Meaning
I may be unusual
by the measures that you
bring to the table of friendship
but I’m not disingenuous
my truth sprays out from the fountain
like hot water
from your favorite shower head
probably the massaging and luxurious kind
that you find in those swanky hotels
and unlike some
my mouth isn’t filled with platitudes
like a rocks glass crowded with ice
I lay out words as layered with meaning
as the mille-feuille on the dessert table
but I mean every leaf, every shade
that I have riveted together
and brought
to your attention.
