Lure

Why are you so terrified 

that the gods will snatch back

what they have given

do you think they are capricious

(they are)

do you think they are trying

to drive you mad

(they are).

These gods will 

cast you out 

like a lure

to see who will 

rise for you

their hearts cannot break

if you are devoured

because they do not

have hearts

and their purpose

is different 

than we can imagine.

Knowing 

that they cannot 

suffer like us 

helps to explain 

why they break us

on the wheel

without compassion 

and yet they must possess

some kind of 

dark humor

to always be lining up

apples and angels

that are forbidden.
