Limitless
Over the mountains
the clouds speed
into infinity
and we are tethered
against the earth
where it glows golden
beneath the retreating sun.
Along the mountain tops
pink light is licking
the edges
and shadows fold over them
like the crushed cotton velvet
of a heavy blanket
the shade of plum water
with notes of wood smoke.
Against one face
the sun is already obscured
and the colors have shifted
to dull olive and ash brown
speckled with golden embers.
We are tiny
but the sky is limitless.
