Leadership

My one gift

is in saying 

we will do this anyway 

when something is

impossible 

when people 

start doubting.

Then I carry 

them along into

the floodwaters 

of my determination 

and sometimes 

everyone is swept away

and sometimes 

they are lost.

Gifts usually 

sacrifice others

that is why

the sword of Justice

is double-edged

and then the burden

of guilt

is mine to carry. 

But I must try 

something

or else apathy will 

grind our bones into dust

and leave only 

the dry leaves of 

our volition

falling

on the empty fields.
