Godlike

Again

you’ve made the

earth tremble and tilt

upended rivers

shaken out storms

and yet you say

that you are not a god

that you don’t believe

in those things

tell me

when the lightning

hammers down

over the houses

how the road of light

is made without a forge

in the heavens

tell me how

you can pour

emotions like syrup

from the jar of secrets

until I feel the crystals

of sorrow growing in me

filling the empty rooms

of the sanctuary

that whisper

with loneliness

I’ve never seen

mortals make their

soft magic spin up

to the burning sky

or reach into

the heart flower

to pluck out

the faultless pistil

glowing like a star

in its velvet bed

where your hands

touch the world

you are making

miracles.
