Dēcipere
Do not
learn to lie
it is better not to speak
not even with the long
cliffs of your body
not even with your
hands when they caress
or your arms when they encircle
or your lips when they descend
despite my words
I have always been an expert
at obscurity
at filling the room with smoke
and setting out my glittering mirrors
or wrapping my nakedness
with a red cape like a matador
because who will
look at my face to determine
whether I am lying
when I whip it off.
The word deception derives from the Latin verb dēcipere, meaning “to ensnare” (in the literal sense of trapping someone or an animal).
