Crystal Tears

why do tears burn

hot

they should travel

over my face

like ice

falling within the

freezer drawer

sounding like

hammers singing

in the dark

of the mine

I haven’t cried

all year, the crystal

tears are piling

in me like forgotten

diamonds

behind my eyes

I’m filling up

no wonder

I can stay

in a rage

with white hot

pearls of anger

laid in their heaps

everywhere

I touch
