Court Cards

so we find ourselves 

in this garden

of agitators and villains

hoping for redemption 

I look sideways

at you, and what 

I see in your eyes

is as good as winking

you are cognizant too

of who we are dealing with

and how we must play them 

like court cards 

to our advantage 

I love a partnered game

where it is nearly 

cheating to know

each other this well

and to speak

without words
