Come Closer
I like to see
where peril waits
so it is always with pleasure
that I view
where the clouds have parted
to know where the caltrops of ice
are scattered
and where hollows in the earth
linger for the unwary
this anxiety
riding in my blood
must have purpose
or it spends me in its place
I want the feeling
of climbing up the cliff of exhilaration
when I have an enemy to lure in
see how I am small
and soft
and easy to conquer
because I need you
close enough to clasp
thus I can set in
my hip and turn
and pivot to send you flying
so my years of practice
are worth the price.
